20th Century Mile-Markers

    "Now learn a lesson from the fig tree; as soon as its branches become tender...you know that summer is near. So, also, when you see these things happening, you will recognize and know that He is near..." - Mark 13:28-29

     Many dates this century have shown themselves to be significant in the fulfillment of prophecy. Noted on this page are dates that relate to Israel, Russia (Rosh in Ezekiel) and her former allies (Gog and Magog in Ezekiel) as well as countries that are likely descended from the "House of Israel", now in diaspora. These dates are used as reference points to confirm (and predict) other dates that may be eschatologically significant.

Dec. 10, 1917 (0000): The new age begins. This date saw Jerusalem reclaimed after thousands of years of heathen occupation when the British routed the Turks from the city during WW1. This victory came exactly 1260 days after WW1 began (1260 days is mentioned prominently in Revelation). This date is also Kislev 24 on the Hebrew/Jewish calendar - a day that God promises a blessing in the Book of Haggai. This day may be inferred to be one of several that represent a "going forth of the commandment to restore Jerusalem." (Daniel 9:25)

Dec. 30, 1922 : This date marked the inception of the Soviet Union when the Ukrainian, Belorussian and Transcaucasian republics were federated with the Russian Republics. This is likely the Rosh-Gog-MaGog collective of Ezekiel 38.

March 2, 1931 (4831): Birthday of former Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev. Also, Adar 13 on Hebrew/Jewish calendar (in the Book of Esther Adar 13 was found by casting of lots to represent the best day in the calendar year to destroy the Jews).

July 16, 1945 (10080): The "abomination of desolation" (Daniel 11:31 & 12:11) is revealed. The first atomic bomb is exploded at "Trinity" test site in Nevada. This occurred exactly 28 prophetic years into the New Age and 1260 days before a Kislev 24.

Aug. 6, 1945 (10101): First city destroyed by a nuclear weapon.

Aug. 9, 1945 (10104): Second city destroyed by a nuclear weapon. Together these two events may metaphorically represent "Two Witnesses" in the prophecy that says God will burn the earth and make it desolate in the latter days. (Isaiah 13:9, 24:6, et al)

May 14, 1948 (11114): Israel becomes a state. (see Ezek. 36:24)

Aug. 29, 1949 (11586): Russia (likely Rosh) explodes its first nuclear weapon. (Ezek. 38:7)

June 11, 1967 (18081): 6-day Mideast war ends with old Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria reclaimed. This was exactly 2300 years after Alexander the Great conquered the region in 334 BC (see page devoted to discussion of this event.)

Sept. 17, 1978 (22197): Israel makes peace with Egypt, the first Arab nation to make such a peace. (see Ezek. 29:6-7)

Sept. 10, 1980 (22921): Libya and Syria merge and pledge to destroy Israel. (Ezek.38:5) This date also marks the the start of the 490th Sabbatical week since Gilgal.

April 7, 1985 (24591): Gorbachev makes his "covenant with the many for a 7." (see Dan. 9:27) An event of importance was predicted to occur on this date - see separate page devoted to discussion of Gorbachev covenant.

April 26, 1986, (24976): The worst nuclear accident in history occurs at Chernobyl in the Ukraine. (An event of importance was predicted to occur on this date as it is 1335 days before a Kislev 24.) It is worth noting that the Ukrainian word Chornobyl (sic) means "wormwood" (see Rev. 8:11).

May 27, 1986 (25006): Ronald Reagan declares U.S. breaking out of Salt II Treaty. This was exactly 69 1/2 prophetic months into the Sabbatical week.

Sept. 23, 1987 (25490): End of 70 weeks of Sabbaticals (49 years plus one jubilee each) since Gilgal. 70 weeks is the period decreed to "put an end to sin" in Daniel 9:24. Note the amazing coincidence of this being 25000 days plus "70 weeks" into the new age.

Dec. 2, 1988 (25926): This date is Kislev 24 - 1335 days after the Gorbachev covenant. On this date relations between Israel and Russia begin to warm for the first time since 1967 when Israel returns a hijacked airliner.

Dec. 21, 1989 (26311): This date is a Kislev 24 and 1335 days after the Chernobyl accident. It marked the occasion of the last of the eastern block of Soviet states to become democratic.

Nov. 17, 1990 (26645): Non-Aggression pact signed between Nato and the Warsaw Pact countries.

April 1, 1991 (26776): Warsaw Pact alliance officially disbands. This date is 1335 days before a Kislev 24. It is also 69 multiples of sevens since 18081. (Jerusalem reclamation date.)

Oct. 18, 1991 (26976): Israel and Soviets restore diplomatic ties. This is exactly 5 weeks of prophetic months after the hijacking incident of 25926.

Dec. 25, 1991 (27044): Gorbachev ceases to perform any more presidential duties - marking the official end of the Soviet Union.

May 5, 1994 (27906): The Palestinians get a homeland within Israel's borders in taking control of Jericho and 25 square miles of the Gaza strip. (See Josh. 6:26)

December 17, 1995 (28497/8): This was the day that popular elections put the Communist party and the Ultranationalists back in control of the (lower) parliament in Russia (Rosh). On the Hebrew/Jewish calendar this is Kislev 24 - a date upon which God promises a blessing to His people.

May 7, 1996 (28639): Original date of the Palestinian "covenant" to destroy Israel. (See Jasher 21:14)

March 22, 2001 (30419): ALL 27 of the leading Orthodox and Chassidic sages in Israel declare the start of the "Time of Jacob's Trouble".

April 11, 2001 (30439): This date is 1335 days before a Kislev 24 (a promised Day of Blessing). On this date the Russians confirm a previous agreement (covenant) to destroy their huge stockpiles of chemical weapons - even though they had destroyed less than 1% since the agreement was originally made.

July 20, 2001 (30539): An event thought to be equivalent to the "causing of the Holy oblation to cease" occurs in Israel when the Rabbinical Council of Judea, Samaria and Gaza abandons the religious injunction preventing Jews from ascending to the Temple Mount. This occurred on the last day of Tammuz.

September 11, 2001 (30592): Terrorists seize 4 commercial jetliners in the US and crash 3 of them into the twin World Trade Center towers and Pentagon causing a horrific loss of life. This date is exactly 1263 1/2 days after the exact middle of a sabbatical week. This is deemed eschatologically significant because a passage in the Book of Revelation talks about thousands dying 1263 1/2 days after the middle of a prophetic week.
