The Palestinian Inheritance
"Thus says the Lord: I will send a fire upon the wall of Gaza, and it
shall devour her strongholds...because they
did not remember the covenant of brotherhood." - Amos 1:7&9
Projecting forward prophetic intervals from mile-markers this
century, events were predicted to occur on certain recent dates.
One of importance came in May of 1994 on Jewish calendar day
Iyyar 24. This was the day the Palestinian people realized
a homeland within the State of Israel in assuming control
of the city of Jericho and 25 square miles of nearby
territory.
In Gen. 17:8, God promises the land of Canaan for an
everlasting possession to Abraham's posterity. As the
descendants of Ishmael rank among Abraham's
offspring, a portion of the promised land rightfully falls
to them. In Gen. 16:12 the descendants of Ishmael were
prophecied to live "to the east...on the borders of his
kinsmen." With the recent acquisition of more than 2 dozen
additional West Bank cities under the Wye accords,
the Palestinian people now reside predominantly
in eastern Israel near the Jordanian border.
Gen. 16:12 also foretold that Ishmael's "hand would be
against every man." Since the 1948 war of statehood, the
1967 war and, even, since the Oslo Accords
of September 1993, the hand of the Palestinian people has
been against Israel in a quest for their share of
Abraham's inheritance. The hand of the Palestinians has
also struck repeatedly at other nations through acts of
terrorism.
The historian Jasher recounts how Ishmael tried to kill Isaac when
he was a child
(Jash. 21:14). If these Palestinian people are indeed
descended from Ishmael, then this Abrahamic "cousin" is still trying
to kill Isaac today. The fratricidal proclivities of these people are also a literal fulfillment of the prophecy that
a man's enemies will be them "of his own family". (Mic. 7:6, Matt. 10:36)
Evidence to support the notion that God is behind the
return of this land to the Palestinian people lies in the
fact that Jericho - the first city to be returned - was
put under Palestinian authority on Iyyar 24. In a Jewish
year with 13 months, Iyyar is the 9th month of the civil
year. As such, this event could be construed to have occured
on the 24th day of the 9th month. In the Book of Haggai,
God promises a blessing on the 24th day of the 9th month.
Prophetic intervals that focused on this date were:
It is 1260 days from 26645. (Date of peace
agreement made between NATO and Warsaw Pact countries.) [*See comment below.]
A half-week (of multiples) of 69 from 25491. (When 70
sevens of Sabbatical weeks since Gilgal were complete.)
69 1/2 weeks from 27419. (Date strategic arms reduction
treaty was signed)
A half-week (of multiples) of prophetic months times Hebrew
months since the new age began (0000).
*Note: This event coming 1260 days after the NATO/Warsaw Pact peace
agreement of 26645 is particularly revealing. It is as if the numbers
are saying this event will eventually lead to hostilities between NATO and its
old "cold war" adversaries.
A March 1, 1996, deadline was set for the first 7 cities to be
turned over to the Palestinian authority. Due
to terrorist bombings in Israel in the months preceding
March, this failed to occur. The number of days between the
return of Jericho and this March 1 deadline was exactly 666.
Further delays occured due to a change in government in Israel
and a new self-imposed deadline of January 1, 1997, was set.
This deadline was also not met. Between the date Jericho was
returned and this January deadline was an exact multiple of 69 1/2
days.
In late 1998 President Bill Clinton's arrival in Israel on the 24th day
of Kislev (Hagg. 2:18-19) produced a "blessing" for
ALL these descendants of Abraham. The PNC voted overwhelming to annul clauses in its charter
calling for the destruction of Israel. While few students of scripture
believe there has truly been a change of heart among the Palestinians,
prophecy does say there MUST be a period of peace before the End comes.
This action is consistent with that prophecy.
Author's note: Joshua laid a curse on "the man who rises up
and rebuilds...Jericho. With the loss of his first-born
shall he lay its foundation, and with the loss of his
youngest son shall he set up its gates." (Josh. 6:26) While
this was literally fulfilled when Hiel the Bethelite rebuilt
the city (I Kings 16:34), many of today's "Palestinian
people" have lost their first-born and their youngest in
re-acquiring Jericho.
